For over 125 years, Capitol Federal has helped shape the future of banking in the Midwest and we believe that a great company starts with great people.RoleWork alongside our experienced Accounting staff assisting with various financial and reporting tasks as assigned, with the opportunity to engage with other departments.This is a Part Time internship up to 20 hours a week. Flexibility in scheduled hours between Monday through Friday 8 AM - 5 PM. The internship will be 8 - 12 weeks depending on your availability to start. As an intern at Capitol Federal you will have the opportunity to connect with other interns and employees through networking events.Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Learn and prepare daily reconciliations, assist with researching errors, and create journal vouchers, as necessary.
  • Perform various accounting functions related to month end closing procedures including preparing information for rollforwards, tables, and support for internal and external reporting.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.
  • Assist with research to support understanding of accounting changes that may impact the Bank.
  • Maintaining and securing highly sensitive and confidential information.
  • Attendance at department meetings is expected.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
  • Must comply with current applicable laws, regulations and bank policies and procedures. Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.Requirements
    • Entry-level preparatory experience preferred, with basic knowledge of accounting and reconciling.
    • Candidate must be a current student working towards a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting.
    • Authorization to work in the US without Company sponsorship now AND in the future.
    • Proficient with MS Excel and Word
    • Strong analytical, problem solving, decision making, and organizational skills A base understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) Ability to think objectively and analytically
    • Ability to work with various levels of management
    • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks
    • Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job.
