Job Description Job Description We are looking for an experienced Controller to manage and oversee essential accounting operations for a leading organization in Kansas City, Missouri. This role is pivotal within the Finance team and involves collaborating with senior leadership to ensure financial accuracy, compliance, and operational excellence. Responsibilities: • Supervise daily accounting operations, including payroll, accounts payable, and cash receipts, ensuring accuracy and efficiency. • Lead and mentor managers overseeing payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions. • Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and established accounting procedures. • Coordinate treasury activities such as cash management, liquidity planning, and financial risk mitigation. • Manage the monthly financial close process, reviewing reconciliations and preparing supporting documentation. • Prepare internal financial reports and operational metrics to support informed decision-making. • Collaborate with auditors and tax consultants by providing required schedules and documentation. • Identify opportunities to enhance accounting processes, improving efficiency and strengthening controls. • Foster cross-functional collaboration with departments such as IT, Operations, and senior leadership to support organizational goals. • Provide strategic guidance on financial practices and policies to maintain the firm's financial integrity. • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required. • A minimum of 5–7 years of accounting experience, with attention to detail, preferably within a law firm or services environment requiring a high level of accuracy. • Proven experience managing accounting staff and leading payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions. • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices specific to legal or services firms where precision is essential. • Proficiency in financial systems, including experience with Elite 3E and Chrome River, is a plus. • Exceptional organizational, analytical, and communication skills. • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment. • Demonstrated leadership abilities with a collaborative and service-oriented approach.
