Why a Great OpportunityHerd Manager position - Kansas$50,000 - $60,000Job DescriptionA large dairy operation located in Kansas is searching for a Hands-on Herd Manager. Responsibilities include checking and administering medications as needed based on company protocol for fresh cows and managing transition cows. Ability to vaccinate cows based on company protocol and communicate the needs of the farm with the vet and the nutritionist. Maintain communication with farm manager about herd health, supplies and other areas. Will work closely with parlor team supervisors to ensure team members have the proper training and knowledge to help overall herd health. Must be able to communicate with team supervisors about inventory, cows needs and personnel matters. Will assist the breeder with AI breeding and have ability to AI based on company parameters. Herd Manager will also be responsible for ordering, sourcing and tracking vaccines and chemical supplies. Must be experienced with data entry into herd management software (DairyComp 305). Responsible for stocking inventory for all farms and other tasks as needed.QualificationsMUST HAVE CURRENT DAIRY EXPERIENCE TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION- Strong Dairy experience- Supervisor experience- Leadership / motivational skills- Herd management experience- Herd health experience- AI breeding experience- Excellent communication skills- Computer skills
