Learn more about this agency Responsibilities The selectee reviews member records to identify data errors and makes corrections as required, ensures all data changes are documented and adheres to established procedures for maintaining member record accuracy, security and confidentiality, assists internal and external customers with personnel data problems. Typical work assignments include: Performing operations or prepares complex documents containing tables or graphs pertaining to military personnel actions. Performing extensive review of records and makes final decisions in processing matters for military personnel transactions with major career or service significance. Examining information contained in applications, statements of service, correspondence, official military human resources folders and official publications. Initiating actions and requests clarification relating to the credibility of certain types of service. Providing information, service and assistance to external and internal customers in general military personnel systems, processes and procedures. Ensuring that assigned military human resources programs meet requirements outlined in agency self-assessment guidance. Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service. U.S. Citizenship is required. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement. This includes Time-In-Grade requirements for current status employees applying through merit promotion procedures. Status applicants applying for a promotion must have 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade. Qualifications GS 7: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 level. Examples of specialized experience include: reviewing and processing actions to resolve various complicated pay problems; reviewing records and making decisions in processing matters for military personnel transactions; providing advice and guidance on matters regarding military personnel issues; reviewing and preparing documents pertaining to a full range of military personnel actions; and using on-line human resource systems to obtain information pertinent to military personnel actions being processed. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
