The City Engineer is responsible for the preparation of plans,
specifications and estimates for, as well as supervising the design
and construction of public improvements. Additionally, the City
Engineer is responsible for performing all surveying and
engineering work under the direction of the Public Works Director.
This position will have direct authority over the Engineering
Division and will also assist the Department Director with projects
and initiatives related to Public Works service delivery.
Primary duties include:
- Communications: The City Engineer is responsible for
communicating initiatives, issues, and other items related to the
City, Department, and assigned divisions.
- Operations: The City Engineer is responsible for direct
management of personnel and related services within assigned
- Budgeting: The City Engineer is responsible for preparation and
implementation of Operating and Capital Budgets for assigned
- Asset and Performance Management: The City Engineer is
responsible for preparation and implementation of asset and
performance management in assigned divisions.
Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an accredited
college or university in Civil Engineering or related field. Must
have at least ten (10) years of professional engineering management
experience with at least five (5) years in a supervisory position.
Must be registered as a Professional Engineer in the State of KS or
have the ability to obtain KS reciprocity within six months of hire
date. Must possess and maintain a valid drivers license, KS drivers
license required within six months of hire date.
Annual entry up to $126,000 DOQ
