Job Description:

*Req3063**Days - Less than 12 hours per shift*Education Qualifications* Bachelor's Degree Specializing in cytotechnology. *Required**Licenses and Certifications** Cytotechnologist (CT) - ASCP Registry eligible also accepted (must take and pass registry within six months of hire date). *Required*What you will do* Utilizing microscopic technique, screens glass slides according to established procedure for detecting abnormal or cancerous cells. Records findings accurately in the medical record.* Identifies and appropriately marks cellular abnormalities. Works in close collaboration with pathologists to provide accurate and timely diagnoses.* Assists with fine needle aspiration collection and evaluation.* Correlates cytologic findings with findings from subsequent biopsies.* Receives and processes gynecologic and non-gynecologic specimens. Produces high-quality stained slides.* Maintains proficiency testing as set forth by governing bodies. Assures that workload recording is accurate and complete so that screening limits are not exceeded.* Assists in maintaining adequate supplies and equipment for the department.* Assists with teaching, training and mentoring cytotechnologist and medical lab assistant interns and trainees.* Assists department leadership in development of budget, policies, procedures, work standards, and goal-setting.*Stormont Vail is a non-profit integrated health care system based in Topeka, Kansas, serving a multicounty region in northeast Kansas for more than 130 years.
