Job Description:

PURCHASHING CLERK Reports to: Controller JOB REQUIREMENTS: Understand quality fundamentals and be able to enforce them Able to work in a safe, prudent and organized manner Great oral and written skills to ensure proper communication to all Departments Available to cross train as directed Willing to work a flexible schedule in order to accomplish all daily tasks Commitment to follow all policies and procedures as they relate to the position Work with confidentiality and discretion Train, supervise and motivate Purchasing employees and execute all their tasks Ensure the department works closely with the Executive Chef to purchase the highest quality approved products at the lowest price Ensure all purchase order requests are properly completed and approved Recommend and implement purchasing concepts that save money through contract and quantity discount purchasing Supervise receiving, documenting, storage, issue procedures as outlined in the policy and procedure manuals, ensuring product pricing, rotation and inventory levels as well as storage area sanitation Ensure all storage areas are secure, clean and properly organized. Coordinate the annual operating equipment and supply requirements Coordinate purchases related to capital projects Conduct quality control audits to ensure team is properly trained and following established procedures Coordinate and participate in all month end and quarterly inventories of food, beverage, operating equipment and supplies Empowered and empowers employees to intuitively serve each guest, employee, visitor or client Follows their instinct and uses her/his best judgment to create experiences for guests that are thoughtful and genuine Provides undivided attention to each guest Detail orientated Demonstrates high degree of drive and determination Works cooperatively with other people in order to achieve a common goal Aptitude for maintaining accurate information related to files, internal hotel needs, as well as required forms Highly organized and has the ability to plan multiple activities and meet deadlines with the ability to maintain a positive and professional demeanor at all times All other responsibilities assigned by management Active participant in recruitment, coaching, training, development, performance reviews, discipline of staff Proactive communicator, active problem solver Performs standards tests as required Able to meet tight deadlines while working in a very fast paced environment and under considerable stress Additional Requirements: Willing to work a flexible schedule in order to accomplish all required tasks Work with integrity, confidentiality and discretion Teamwork: Maintain a good working relationship with other associates by promoting teamwork and fostering a harmonious working climate Partake in a positive work ethic and surrounding environment Standards: Able to work alone without direct supervision Demonstrate high degree of drive and determination Constantly recommend service and product improvement to better the operation Keep the work area clean and tidy at all times Attend all required meetings Follow proper payroll and uniform procedures Properly handle and report associate and guest accidents Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures/standards Assist with responsibilities and duties in other departments and as assigned by management Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, associates may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel Educational Requirements: 4 year college degree preferably with an emphasis in Hospitality Management or equivalent experience Work Environment: Standard purchasing operations hotel and restaurant setting.
