Security Benefit is seeking a candidate to fill a Business Analyst position within the Company's Operations Department. SB fosters strong partnerships to provide insightful and customized retirement solutions for employers and individual investors nationwide. Through a broad advisor network and its nationally recognized money managers, SB provides mutual funds, annuities and retirement plans and programs. As an industry leader in service technology, SB affiliates also offer business processing and broker/dealer solutions tailored to the financial services marketplace. This position will be based in our home office in Topeka, Kansas. SB associates are working in a hybrid environment with both remote and on-site work.Duties and Responsibilities:SB's Operations Department provides business process oversight and seeks continuous improvement in customer experience. The Business Analyst position will reside on the Commission Services and Delivery Team within the Operations Department and will be responsible for the following duties:Supports SB Sales and Firm Management teams:

  • Responds to general inquiries and requests relating to licensing, appointments, commissions, selling agreements, and commission schedules
  • Serves as primary liaison between SB, its distribution partners, and Licensing and Commissions to answer questions and resolve issues
  • Serves as operational point of contact to key distribution partners for licensing and commissions-related questions and activities
  • Manages firm onboarding/merger/acquisition activities relating to licensing, appointments, and commissions
  • Oversees and manages the selling agreement onboarding process and document retention
  • Coordinates and manages internal and external audit requests and production incidents
  • Tracks internal projects to evaluate and implement the requirementsPerforms state appointment/renewal oversight and processing which:
    • Coordinates termination of non-active appointments
    • Ensures state renewal invoices and appointment fees are paid accurately and timely
    • Establishes and maintains process documentation and databases
    • Responds to internal and external inquiries and requestsPerforms other projects and activities supporting the Operations Department as assigned, including:
      • Serves as general commission subject matter expert
      • Supports licensing and commissions-related issues management, research, and mitigation
      • Interacts closely with internal teams, supporting vendors management, and external audiences
      • Supports regulatory and audit activities related to commission processing and appointment service delivery
      • Maintains repository of selling agreements and commission schedules by firm
      • Serves as backup resource and provides quality audit support for team
      • Explores and implements automated solutions to optimize existing manual processes
      • Supports guideline creation and updates
      • Assists with the preparation of periodic reports and controls
      • Provides project team support and involvement
      • Establishes and maintains process documentation and records retention/documentationDesired Skills and Experience:
        • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, or a related field of study preferred
        • Annuity/insurance licensing and commissions experience preferred
        • Regulatory, Finance, Audit, or Compliance experience is a plus, but not required
        • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification is a plus, but not required
        • Experience with business process analysis and improvement is a plus, but not required
        • Ability to build effective relationships and deliver high-quality customer service is essential
        • Demonstrated experience of self-direction, problem solving, and ability to meet deadlines
        • Attention to detail and accuracy a must
        • Highly organized with strong time management skills
        • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects
        • Strong initiative and ability to work autonomously, as well as part of a team
        • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communications skills
